Shades Baptism
Shade is my oldest son.
Here he is as a young child, growing up in the midst of a community of people that regularly celebrated their decision to follow Christ.
And here he is today, doing it himself.
I’m glad to have (kinda) held it together.
I didn’t do so well during the sermon I preached afterwards when I told some of the stories of the powerful conversations I’ve had with Shade over the last year. The first half of this teaching is from the last few verses of the first chapter of 1 John, the second half is all the stories about Shade.
Thanks to all of you who have helped him know Jesus Christ as the loving, saving, life-giving savior and master that he is. And thanks in advance to any and all of you who will be instrumental in guiding, helping, and supporting Shade on his continuing journey into and with Christ.
I am eternally grateful.
Praise God! The greatest day in the life of any parent. Your faith has been planted in the fresh soil of your son’s heart. Now to nourish and watch it grow. What a blessing. We now have 4 grandchildren who are coming to know the Lord through their parents…and hopefully some through their grandparents.

The other day I had an opportunity to call a dad and tell him how proud I was of his daughter and her contributions to our company. There was a pause and then he said, “Mike it does not get any better that this.” I thought that was pretty good, but Baptizing your son Shade it truly does not get any better than that. Congratulations to you,Shade and the rest of the family. Angels are rejoicing and so am I!!!!! I love you brother.

Praise God for working in Shade!!! We love Shade very much and have enjoyed his friendship with Dylan!!! May God forever bless and guide Shade as he grows more and more into a young man!!! We love you all!!!
Wow. No words at all man – just tears of joy. I’m looking forward to this day with all of my children.
We rejoice and are glad in each day that the Lord gives. The rejoicing is even greater today than normal. Praise be to God! And congratulations to Shade and his Godly family!

Hallelujah and Praise the Lord on Shade’s baptism,this is a priceless moment, the angels are sure rejoicing and so are we,together with you. Our Father in Heaven is also saying well done! to all of you for being a Christ-like example to Shade.
I have not met you or the family at Southwest,but i want to take this moment to tell you that you have been a great inspiration to us all here in China.Brian,the sermons we listen to online have had an over-whelming effect on us and the Chinese people.

Shade, you have experienced the greatest day of your life through your confession and obedience to God and Jesus in baptism. Being God’s child will affect every decision you make and grant you many wonderful blessings in this life and most especially in the hereafter. You may not know me personally, but I am your Great Aunt. I have watched you and your siblings from afar in Alabama as you grow in the Lord. Your Alabama great-grandparents would have been thrilled,too, Shade, about your being born again. I am so very happy for your parents and I rejoice with you all. I love you dearly, always.

Shade, watchin that video brought back some memories for me, and that sure is somethin to see, comin from me! I hope, and pray that you and God will have sweet walk, and don’t forget that you have two of the most awesome role models to mirror your life after. Now, just be sure to give Cali and Jaken a great big-brother example to follow, and don’t forget to ask God to lead you in all your ways! Have a sweet year, bro!
